your opinion on thriftshopping

I was just wondering what everyones opinions were on thriftshopping/ buyining stuff second hand. I know there are a lot of mixed opinions on it but personally I aboslutely love it. I really like going to second hand clothing stores to look for clothing. you can always find really cool stuff there if you look well, it's cheaper and, one of the most importand things for me, the things I buy don't have to be made with all new recources. I don't really see much downsides to buying things second hand and thriftshopping.
I do know that some people don't like it. I'd love to know what everyone else thinks and what kind of stuff you buy if you like buying stuff second hand ^^

I'm on and off about it, and it mainly depends on what I'm buying! I normally buy old gen ponies at the thrift store, clothes I normally like to avoid, mainly because the clothes at my local one are very old fashioned and also because of hygiene reasons, I've also bought some decorations for my room before!

I love thrift shopping, it's how I get most of my things.  Like my Pots and pans, books, jeans, etc. sometimes you can be really lucky and find a lot of stuff other times you leave empty handed.

I like it. Never know what you'll find.

Recently went shopping w/ my dad at Good Will (the K-mart of thrift stores) and then St. Vincent DePaul (the Target of thrift stores). Bought myself a new PC controller in relatively good shape.

Though if you mean stores dedicated to certain items, then Half-Price books is my jam. Probably spent more than a collective grand on CDs alone.

I like buying first hand. In the summer and spring, I go to garage sales and look for antiques, since it is my passion. Some things are best to buy new, since things wear out, but some are fine to buy used. If there is something that works perfectly fine, used and much less then buying it new, I don't have any issues with buying used.

Well, how else was I able to get a humongous computer desk and all the other monitors I had prior to the ones I use now? And my computer mouse? And my computer chairs? And my desk lamp? And my USB hubs? (Desk, wall thing, monitors, Twi-plush, USB hub, desk lamp that's not shown, and probably the mouse and keyboard shown below were obtained from a thrift store; the mouse was since replaced with another mouse from the same exact thrift store, and the USB hub was since replaced with another USB hub from the same exact thrift store. Unsurprisingly, this is also how I got a lot of the cables for my computer.)

Well...I did find a nice Old West duster and few items you can't find anywhere today. And it's never the price - it's what you find. :twilighthat:

I used to go to the local Goodwill store often when I was a kid. Found some cool clothes and toys there. That was always fun. Also went a couple of times when I wanted something for a Halloween costume.

I really need to take a look again sometime. I'm a somewhat broke college student, so I will take a good deal if I can find it. :squee:

Nothing wrong with it.  I've bought all kinds of stuff second hand, everything from cloths to synths.  Long as it's in good shape, go for it.

Almost all of my jeans, dress pants, and work shirts come from a thrift store called Savers. You'd be surprised at all the either little worn or completely new with tags items you can find super cheap. Like sometimes $3 for brand new name brand jeans.  Yes I wash these before wearing.

I also buy my daughter's shoes at thrift stores, because kid's shoes get replaced so quickly. Yes I Lysol spray these before wearing.

I've also bought toys and household items cheap to flip on eBay, especially when I was unemployed. My biggest two wins was a $3 80s Scrooge McDuck plush that I sold for about $60, and a 99¢ Blue's Clues Handy Dandy Notebook new in box that sold for over $100.

Plus buying at thrift stores help charities usually. Win win win!

I love thrift shopping and always have. I buy about half my clothes at thrift shops. They're not limited to only the latest fashions and I can tweak them a little to make my own customized creations (Rarity would be pleased!) I also buy toys and I love finding a nice collectible that's been overlooked. The prices are cheaper and it's more fun, like going on a safari for goodies. :o

I've got no idea what the difference is between Thrift shopping and normal shopping, but I like it if it doesn't take to long and people are not walking like snails. :twi:

I feel the same way for thrift shopping as I do for antiquing... in that I love it. As others have stated you never know what you will find and what treasures you will unearth and give a new lease on life within yours.Around here though the big box companies pretty much force them all out.
