Things You Dislike About the MLP Fandom

they don't put it where kids can find it though. This is the problem I'm talking about! People aren't just out on the streets of the internet saying, "Hey kid! Here have some 'special pony art!'they hide pretty well, to the point twhere it frustrates their fans! and the fans also aren't sitting there posting videos of themselves just fapping away to a clopfic!

For me, it's not just about the kids. *I* personally don't care to see that stuff, and a lot of it unfortunately comes up when I'm looking for "regular" pony images.

when some bronies worship lauren faust to the point where it just gets kind of creepy. and also when they constantly talk about how great the characterizations of the ponies are and how they have personalities and blah blah blah

1. Feeding the trolls and haters....I mean seriously?!?!

2. The whole best/worst pony especially if someone say the dislike fluttershy flame war starts.

3. Starting flames wars over shipping.

4. Shoving their brony-ness down a neutral persons throat causing that person to become a hater.

5. Bashing cloppers. Sure clopping definetly not my cup of tea but Most people I bet have 'their guilty pleasure'. And the fact that they admit their cloppers show that probably don't care whatt negative comments you have to say so stop wasting your breath spamming up everywhere.

*I really don't like the missionary-like pony spammers. C'mon guys you aren't "converting" people, you're diverging them from the show. Please stop.

*Cloppers don't bother me at all (everyone has different tastes) but I hate it when they go around proclaiming their lust for colorful horses. Nobody wants to hear your creepy, kinky Fluttershy fantasies bro.

I actually hate the Word "Brony", I really do.

I will also say i probably was a hater of this fandom because the bronies I encountered on another forum seamed to be trying to force EVERYONE to just join, making me thing they were a crazy internet troll group. so seriously, let the neutrals be.

Uh that's kinda one of the main reasons people love the show. That's like complaining about people who talk about how much they like the songs.

Anyway, I can't stand the New Luna Republic/Solar Empire crap. It divides fans in the stupidest, most superficial of ways and as a fan of both Celestia and Luna I despise it. Trollestia can be fun when it's played for laughs, but when you turn her into a tyrant and make her sister out to be some sort of liberator it loses it's humor and turns into fandumb. There isn't a single negative portrayal of Luna outside of Nightmare Moon in the fanbase and even that is downplayed by making Celestia look like she overreacted or at worst a bully.

I love this fandom the community is amazing the talent within the community is mind blowing. What I don't like about it are the hardcore bronys that feel the need to attempt to convert everybody to bronys I dont like it because if they don't want to be bronys they don't have to and if they are going to become bronys it will happen on its own. Also Im not a fan of some of the couples people try to push (any of the mane 6 being with another member of the mane 6) any people who push spike and twilight. Oh and the r34 stuff im just not into it.

Gender swaped ponies. Thier names and design just dosn't do it for me. Rainbow Blitz, Butterscotch, Dusk Shine, Bubble Barry, Elusive, Applejack, they all seem so, poorly concevied.

Yeah. There's another one. Gender bent ponies just don't seem right :S I don't think you'd see a purple mane unicorn strutting around called 'Elusive'. A male pony admiring their own dresses? Not likely. With females, yes, but not males.

I can't believe I never responded to this. I've expressed my disdain toward the whole brony music scene in general quite a bit recently. Namely how popular, yet mediocre artists are getting tons of exposure while good up-and-comers who are arguably better than some of the more well-known musicians are not only denied exposure by major brony music outlets, but actively suppressed by them in favor of mediocrity and name-drop or genre bias.

I'm also not a big fan of how there's nothing in place to sort of filter out the best and showcase it regardless of popularity. The video game music remixing scene has that in OverClocked Remix and their extremely competent judges panel, but the closest thing we have to that in the brony fandom is EqD, and their prelisteners are comprised to some degree of the aforementioned popular mediocrity and that group as a whole holds a disturbing amount of genre bias in their decisions.

I don't like the fact that bronies ( I have already seen many) feel the need to hide in the closet about being one. there should be no need for you to hide it in real life!

you're no better than those religious people that invade other people's privacy, and try to encourage them to become one of them.

I completly agree same as with religion you have everyright to state your ideas. but don't get mad if somebody doesn't agree with them. usually you'll make it less possible for someone to really view your ideas with thought when you're sitting there yelling at them for not being Example: A Rainbow Dash lover

The concept is good but like I said, it's the names and the design.

Rainbow Blitz- Lazy naming, completely bad design. RD is supposed to be an athlete with an attitude. Blitz looks like a punk wannabe. Rainbow Dash has the most used design in canon. Why should Rainbow blitz have a unique design?

Butterscotch- Name, makes me think of Butters from the South Park. And he looks like Pegasus!Caramel with Fluttershy's colour scheme.

Dusk Shine- just dosn't have the ring as Twilight Sparkle. And I can't stand how his fangirl's call him cute.

Eluisive-Okay, the names means to actively hide from you. Rarity something that disen't happen often. And he looks even girler the Raity.

Bubble Barry- I asked how he got that name and this what I got. "Bubble gum is pink and so is Pinkie." It was a long time ago so I can't remeber excatly how it goes but thats the general gist. And if he grew out his mane and curved out his snout, he could pass for a Pinkie clone.

Applejack-I can't stand the whole androdgens name excuse. He's basicly Big Mac with AJ's colour scheme and a bad mane cut.

Equetria at war fanfics- they all seem the same to me. Some bad thign happens or an Overpowered bad guy coems and screw over Equestria. Cue the ponies being OOC and Death. And pointless gore.

HiE fanfics- This is also soemthign that irks me. All pretty much "Human dirtbag with really bad past suddenly wake up in Equestria." Then it gets better. He meets the ponies and either they fall in love with him or they overglorify him.

Slef-interst- We're not looked in a positive light in the first place, so shipping you're self with ponies isn't helping.

Sounds an awful lot like the regular music industry, doesn't it? Crappy artists like Justin Beiber and Katy Perry get tons and tons and tons of fame, whereas the really talented artists out there are not getting the sort of attention they deserve.

Here's the thing: The reason why mediocre music is so popular is because people are practically trained to like crappy music their whole lives. If they like listening to not-so-special pop all the time like it's the best thing since sliced bread, then they're going to listen to the meh pony music.

If you want the people with real talent to be known, then people like you are the kinds of people who need to make that publicity happen. Tell friends, post their videos on forums, just get the word out. Maybe that music won't reach the kind of ears that will get them that huge publicity that other songs get, but it's something.

Of course, there is one other thing... if someone listens to a song that you just think is the best thing since sliced bread, and they don't like it... oh well, their loss. :P

My least favorite part of the fandom are the hardcore bronies that wont shut up about the show all day and how we all say, "Love and Tolerate" but we don't. I also hate how very few of the best brony artist get attention for there work. At least equestria daily writes about them

The main thing that I dislike about this fandom are the haters, especially the haters that are my friends. They are still my friends, but they despise my "hobby". They like who I am, but disapprove of my interest. I have no issue with that, until they become an interference. That hasn't happened yet, thank God.

What I dislike about some bronies is the same I dislike about people of any other fandom: People who take it too seriously, regardless of which direction.

People who have to show everyone else all the time about it? Annoying. People Who are obseesed with a character and have to show it? Annoying. People with a burning hatred for the R34 thing(to clarify, I don't care about clop material, I just think it is none of my business. And... now people are going to assume I clop  )? Annoying. You see the pattern if you have normal human capacity of detecting patterns.

If you're overly zealous about it, you are likely a part of the fandom I don't care for.

Pornographic ponies. That is just gross and disturbing. Thank goodness for Tumblr Savior, otherwise I would never be able to browse the MLP tag without getting pictures of pony vag and ass.

I agree with this too i think it's one thing to state your sexual prefences but you don't have to flash pics of it in everyones face you have your prefences and i have mine.

With all due respect, I dislike the fact that some bronies... well... aren't intelligent. I know that I'm not being fair because I don't know them that much. But seriously... some of the Youtube comments sound really obsessive and unintelligent. Like, those comments with capital letters and poor grammar everywhere. Of course haters would intensify with such an expressed attitude. It just tarnishes the potential of showing that MLP is a great show for the every-day populace. Most of my friends know by now I'm a brony, but they don't really care because I'm very smart and friendly. I don't shove the show down their throats either and force them to tolerate me either.

That's pretty much YouTube commenters as whole. It's not the place to have an intelligent conversation, at all. It's kinda gone down the toliet.

For the most part, I love this fandom. It tends to be far more tolerating and respectful considering that we are on the INTERNET, a place usually stuffed with the worst aspects of humanity. I've seen so many stupid arguments end quickly with understanding and a brohoof. Even so, this seems like a good place for bringing up some issues I have with the fandom.

Derpy. Nothing can cause a shit-storm like that adorable little cross-eyed Pegasus. Those who call her offensive are just trying a little too hard to find a reason to have their feathers rustled. Then we have the "save Derpy" movement. For the most part, its intentions are good, but then we get the hard-core "OMG YOU HATE DERPY YOU ARE EVIL" sort. I was disappointed at her speaking parts being taken out, but some people take it out on the creators and sometimes people who had nothing to do with the decision! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkHTYoli5kw (WARNING: offensive) This rap song is a great example.

Clop-haters. Other people have touched on this. Nothing wrong with being upset at it being posted where it doesn't belong, but why do you care what other people find attractive? I come from the furry community. I don't see what the big deal is.

Well...in my opinion the only thing I dont like are the fanfics. I just hate the fact that it takes the characters WAY out of their context, RD going bat-shit crazy and brutally murdering ponies who fail one test? Not to mention literally grinding up her biggest fan? Yeah I can see that -.-

Pinkie Pie being a psychotic killer who turns her best friends into foodstuffs? Of course! That was a deleted scene didn't you see?

Seriously guys what the fuck? Sorry, i'm not one for swearing on these forums but this entire topic has me wound up.

I'm going to be a giant hypocrite here and say how can people "hate" something that they are part of? I mean, come on. People who say that they hate people who praise the show's characters, people hate the fact that people take it "seriously"?

(Spoilered for language)

*calm Daniel...calm* ... *calm...* *I SAID F*CKING CALM!

Ok ok...allow me to summarise my points neatly...

I'm the kind of person who had a school reputation of - "You look at that guy or hurt his friends, and you will end up 6 feet under the school field." That's the kind of guy I used to be in school.

The friends I have around me now all know me for who I am, I had/have anger issues (they resurface from time to time but I have them under control mostly), I collect machettes and weapons of the orient - and my friends know that if it came down to it I would have no problem using them. To get to the point though, im also the kind of brony who just does not give a shit what people think about me, i'm a brony, big whoop. If people know that then so what? It's my lifestyle choice not theirs, fuck em. You may or may not have seen my post about me wanting to get some pony merchandise to symbolise my love for the show, and to feel more like a part of the larger scheme of things (different discussion, irrelevant). Heck, I even use terms in REAL DAY TO DAY LIFE like "everypony" and "brohoof" (although granted that one stays between me and my brother). Then there's things like "Okie dokie lokie" and "what the hay" ... the list goes on.

So it just winds me up that a community who's motto is "love and tolerate" cant even seem to love and tolerate each other. What business is it of yours if people use terms like that? So what if people walk around with a big whack-off neon sign above their head screening "I love MLP" y'know what im saying? It's their business and it doesn't affect you in the slightest.

Again, to be a hypocrite because I know im not perfect, seeing people who go around on YouTube and say things like "I'm a brony, you should be one too" *insert metaphorical pony dick in throat here* that is the kind of thing that DOES affect other people, and our community, we dont need THAT kind of attention...

TL;DR

We need to sort ourselves out before we can start judging other people.

Edit:

Alright let me just make something clear...i'm not saying that just because we're bronies that we should love and adore everything about each other, i'm just saying that we shouldn't hate other members of the brony community because they choose to take a more active pony...ised lifestyle than us.

Things like going around claiming being a brony to be a religion, yeah fair enough. Saying that you hate certain bronies who act in a certain way that affects nobody but themselves? No.
