I obviously don't believe the world is going to end today, but a Fox News article online actually pointed out an interesting tidbit of information that has made the December 21st apocalypse advocates differ from any other end-of-world movement; it's been a grassroots movement entirely, and I actually found that pretty interesting.  Most end-of-world movements are cults or sects that revolve around the beliefs propagated by a charismatic leader or central figure, but this particular end-of-world movement has mostly arisen and gained popularity with a number of people due to word of mouth online.  I know it's kind of a random fact, but I found it to be quite interesting.  Still, assuming the world doesn't end today, those who do believe it will will most certainly be just as disappointed as any other previous end-of-world advocates belonging to different movements have been!!!

The only reason why the doomsday was so big was because it was so popularized by movies like 2012 the movie. Other days were made by random cults so they had a less effective impact on society than the 21 did. Which still isn't saying much.
