Told them.

My mom laughed.

My dad was a little surprised.

They make jokes every now and then.

A Lot of people know, I've actually beat someones face because they were talking smack.

I'm not ashamed to go into the pink section of target.

My Dad: WTF?

My mom: FTW!

I showed my mom the Icrontic article and sat back expecting to get asked questions ("What's 4chan?"). This is how it went down (keep in mind my dad works for Hasbro, lol)

Me: *sits back soft resetting for Impish Immunity Gligar*

Mom: *laughs at title*..."Hasbro has a TV network? I didn't know that."..."Oh, I didn't realize it was My Little Pony."...*finishes*..."Huh. That's interesting." *walks away*

Didn't even really ask anything or suspect there was another reason I wanted her to know. The main reason is I want to go to BroNYCon...I should probably get asking about that as a birthday present. I don't even know if I'll tell my dad, lol

I didn't exactly tell my dad, "Hey dad, I watch MLP!"

I kind of just built of to us talking about it. I asked him if he had ever heard of this show about "talking horses", to which he confused with another show that had only one horse in it. Then he asked me, "Wait... you mean a show with horses with horns on their head and stuff? Yeah, but it's not from my time. Why?"

I then hinted I watched the newer version of the show, and explained that it isn't strictly for girls and why. He simply said, "Hmm... Ok, but if its for kids, just leave it to them."

Guess I got that over with.

My parents were already ready for MLP since I was already avidly collecting Monster High when I became interested in FIM. Frankly, at least MLP is something they already know. Although I'm almost 30 I'm also a woman so I had ponies shoved in my face as a small child lol. My parents still tell me they're good parents because they suffered through the MLP film in the theater with me when I was 4. ^_^ Just as with Monster High they don't like to see me spending disposable income on pony figures, but there's not much they can do, I suppose.

My dad found out about the show through Cracked or something, and called me to tell me all about it assuming I would think it was hilarious. When he found out that I watch it, he just seemed kind of surprised. I guess he's cool with it, since he hasn't brought it up since.

Lol, so my mom's a genius, and maybe I'm paranoid, but I think she knows.

My cousin (one of only 3 people that know, cuz, brother, friend.) posted a convo on Facebook I had with her, where I mentioned that I like MLP and "You can't not love Rainbow Dash." was one of my lines, pretty clearly nailing it in.

Yeah. She's a traitor. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png

And that night my mom mentioned that she saw a convorsation on her email from facebook posted by my cousin, and she mentioned some other thing from the conversation. But clearly she saw the whole thing, and I sensed some unsaid implication.

Lol, I guess my life is kinda interesting. My dad's a doctor, my mom's like a Pinkie Pie genius, (She's actually said "yay" EXACTLY like Fluttershy once! :o ), and the result is games of shadows much like the movie "Sherlock Holmes". Lol. It's actually kinda fun...

I know she knows there's a side of me that would like MLP. She snuck me a little plushie once in a store. So better yet, not only does she realize it, but she probably understands it, too.

Really, though, I guess the situation is that they know and just kinda shrug it off and accept it. They probably realize that coming out and saying it would be really awkward and uncomfortable, so they don't.

But honestly each day I feel more and more open about it...

I'm still scared my dad is going to read through some old gameinformers or IGN archives and read something they wrote about bronies and he'll talk to me about it, expecting me to laugh. It would be very awkward. If he did find me out, I'm sure life would be torturous. As for my mom, I don't know what she would do, honestly. Seriously. I don't know. I'm sure my grandparents would take it better.

I did explain what bronies were to one of my cousins. The conversation went something like this(it was on FB)

Me: Hey, check out this video. *link to MLP KYM vid*

Him: K, lemme watch it in dif. tab.

-Few Minutes Later-

Me: What did you think?

Him: It was stupid.

Me: Why? I thought it was interesting.

Him: Because it was only about ponies

Me: Have you seen it? It seems wrong to blindly hate on something.

Him: I have seen it(LIES!)! It was horrible!

I'm gonna tell my older, more reasonable cousin later tomorrow. Maybe he can understand. I got him to watch Gurren Laggan, I think I can get him to watch FiM.

My father gives me a LOT of crap about it, but he doesnt really mind, just thinks its weird. He just likes to be on my ass about stupid stuff, but I just let him do what he wants.

Honestly, I used to argue with him a lot when he would make fun of me for stuff, but now I just shrug it off or add my own little snipets to his jokes. Its really been throwing him for a loop. He's not used to me being so agreeable XD (I used to get mad when he would make fun of me, but it really got me nowhere).

I am more worried about telling my friends. I told my BEST friend Sean, and he thinks its odd, but respects the choice. I have a few very judgemental friends though, who dont exactly have my best interests at heart (they are loose friends) so I am skepticle on telling them.

Finally committed my first name change.

I've liked my little pony since I was a filly (used to have some gen 1 toys and most of gen 2), so I've never had to bring it up or really explain it.

I guess it really shows gender stereotypes and makes me feel for bronies who have to put up with the, "its a show for girls" mentality. :(

My dad found out one day when I returned from toys r us with two giant packs of figures. He asked me if I had gotten Sonic stuff, I said no. He then asked me what I got, and I had him look in the bag for himself. "Jesus Christ Ken." was his reaction. I wasn't all that shocked really, and now I spend most of my time obsessing over it in my room with my door closed :P

My mother enjoys the show some and likes comparing it to The Flinstones since it also had an ability to bring in older audiences and use a bit of satire.

My father doesn't hate it, he doesn't really understand why I like it but enjoys the "I should of been in bed 5 hrs ago line" since it reminds him of my Grandma Sweetie who has lived with us for two years now.

My parents just classified it in the same pot with Southpark, Family Guy, American Dad etc. My friends are also pretty cool about it, although I sometimes even quite aggressively boast about being a brony.
