Favorite MLP Shipping and Why?

I've actually never heard of Twilight and Big Mac being shipped together. 

I have seen it a lot, not as much as Fluttershy and Big Mac though but still very common. I am not going to lie part of the reason why I like that one in particular is because out of the stallions I am the closest to personality wise to Big Mac though I am not nearly as quiet as him and I do have a bit of a crush on Twilight though my one for Applejack is a bit bigger. This makes it very easy for me to picture myself in those situations which is also the reason why I tend to have a slight preference for straight shipping though there are some mare on mare shippings I like as well. It is hard for me to name a straight ship for AJ that I like though because I can't really think of any stallions off the top of my head that are really compatible with her, Soarin' is pretty common mostly due to him buying an apple pie from her at the Grand Galloping Gala but what do they really have in common?

I usually see Fluttershy or Cheerilee shipped with Big McIntosh, so Twilight Sparkle being shipped with him is news to me. But the reasons you gave make sense. 

 

As for Applejack, I agree; there aren't a lot of stallions compatible with Applejack out there. Since Soarin's actual personality hasn't really been given out, it's hard to tell if who he would be compatible with. But it is possible he could be shipped with Applejack, but I'm not sure. I guess a stallion good for Applejack would have to not treat her as weak for being female, and respect her and her family. That's all I can really think of at the moment, and I can't think of a stallion in Equestria that fits the bill at the moment.

Not that into the whole shipping thing when it comes to the mane 6 but I don't mind it being done with background ponies. You may have guessed from my name and profile picture that I'm a fan of Octavia and Vinyl. They make a cute couple.

 

Aside from that, once I met up at the pub with three psychology students and another English student and we psychoanalysed the mane 6  and came up with the theory that Fluttershy has a crush on Rainbow since she's the only one who stood up for her when she was young and Flutters has never had a special somepony. I could go into great detail about exactly what made us develop this theory but I'm feeling apathetic at the moment

My favorite shippings are Twidash and Flutterdash. I really love Rainbow Dash, and it's really cute to see her in a relationship with another pony. I think I like Twidash and Flutterdash the most because those shippings feature my favorite Mane 6 ponies Twilight and Fluttershy are both demure ponies, and I feel like Rainbow Dash would have an easier time opening up to them. If Rainbow Dash dated a pony like Applejack, I feel like she would always keep up that tough girl personality and hold back on expressing how she really feels about things. With a pony like Twilight or Fluttershy, since they're both soft themselves, Rainbow Dash would be more able to express her soft side with them, and seeing Rainbow Dash's soft side is simply the cutest thing ever to me. 

 

I've also come across some amazing Twidash and Flutterdash fanfics, and those increased my appreciation for the shippings. Same thing goes for fanart.

Oh yeah, even though I'm jealous as hell, I think Rainbow Dash x Soarin' is really cute. They look perfect together, and it's definitely my favorite heterosexual shipping.

I never get how Spike x Rarity is supposed to work with then being totally different spieces and all, thought I do remember a comic where spike voices this concern to a bat-winged Night Guard who shows spike a photo of his parents (a dragon and a pony.)

 

When I saw this, i was reminded of the monsters 'Kirin' and 'Altereon' from monster hunter. they are classed as dragons yet look like horses. This is alot harder to see in altereon who looks far more dragonic but if you look at him, he has hooves just like the kirin does,

I only ship one ship. I ship Rarity and Spike. It probably seems strange given they're different species and have a small age difference but it is a cartoon after all and doesn't bother me in the slightest. If its okay in shrek then why isn't it okay in MLP? I don't know why I ship them though. If it weren't for Secret of my Excess I probably wouldn't ship them in the first place.

I also like the Fluttershy/Discord ship but I don't ship them myself if that makes any sense. (In 2015 I now absolutely love Fluttercord and ship them; I don't care much for Sparity anymore xD)

I'm not a fan of homosexual shippings but I'm fine with other people shipping homosexual couples. Just personal preference is all.

I ship FlutterDash. I have always been of the opinion that opposites attract. RD can give Flutters strength, and Flutters can calm down Dashie's brashness. Plus they are my top 2 fave ponies, so there's that too.

SoarinDash is my most favorite ship because of the fan art I started to see when I first became a brony. It was just so adorable that I looked up the ship and there were lots of fan fiction and fan art. I found out why people ship them. It was in the Season 2 Fiinally Canterlot Wedding. It showed a picture of Dashie and Soarin dancing and I thought it was too dang adorable :3

 

AppleDash is my second favorite because they both have a lot in common yet they're different in their athletic abilities. Again, the fan art of them is awesome(Except for that Rule 34 stuff) and come on they're awesome together
