Do people still talk on their phones

Not that I have a phone, but do people still use phones for talking? I ask this after watching the Equestria Girls series... and I'm not crazy about changes in society... and I was getting frustrated getting nothing but 'no one talks on their phone anymore' on Google search.

People definitely still talk on the phone, though it’s generally considered more formal do to so. I find it’s easier to communicate through talking on the phone than it is to communicate by texting.

Yeah, people still call on their phones, but I think texting and other forms of communication are more popular nowadays. I find it really depends on the situation.

Do people still talk in general? I happen to know a few people who find it easier to just text you if they are in the same room with you than to open their mouths and make sound emerge.

It is rather astonishing in some ways.

As for me, I really don't care about phones much and texting kind of bugs the hell out of me at times. So I usually prefer to talk if someone or myself have something to talk about.

I use my phone for calling very often, a lot more than texting. I find it much easier to convey what you're trying to say.

I certainly try and avoid phone conversation if I can, with the exception of some family members of course. Oddly enough, I still write personal snail mail letters ... so I think my aversion to phones is due to years of conference call banality and not due to technology and convenience.

I prefer to talk to people on the phone if we’re gonna have a conversation but if it’s just something then I’ll text. 

2 days I actually was like “hey I haven’t talked to this guy in a long time” the. I texted him if he can talk on the phone and he said yea and we talked for about an hour.

Describes me to a T; excluding the snail mail bit. Of course it also doesn't help that the area I live in lacks cell service so I have to rely Wi-Fi when possible until I get to the bigger urban areas.

People complain that phones are destroying social bonds, families, etc. 

Meanwhile yes, phones have been keeping families in contact this whole time. I don't live in the same state as my family, but we talk multiple times a week over the phone. 

We text, too. And sometimes we do videos.

I try to avoid it entirely. Anxiety makes it too much of a hassle, and why I don't have voice chat enabled in games either.

I like that a lot of places started using text support instead.

There is almost no cell service here whatsoever, so I rely on Wifi to do anything. Anxiety keeps me from talking on the phone anyway but only my mom and granddad ever call me, so that's really not a huge problem. Everyone else contacts me by Messenger, Discord, or some other service that works well on Wifi. Even when I have service I hate talking on the phone or getting in voice chats and will ignore any phone calls besides those from close family; if someone wants to get in touch they can text me or send a message over social media.

I freaking hate phones. I don't talk on them if I can possibly avoid it and I have never sent a text in my entire life. The world used to be without such devices and still managed to spin on its axis. Social networking doesn't make the world closer, it just changes the way people communicate. People used to communicate in different ways and were just as connected by them. A phone may be quicker than sending a letter or even an email, but it's become a pointless dependence. They cost ridiculous amounts of money but everyone falls for it because it's become 'the thing' to have the newest gadget with the most bells and whistles (most of which are pointless anyway). I only use a bare-bones phone for emergencies only, and I keep it turned off otherwise. 

It's not always a bad idea to be away from constant contact with others, A little solitude is good once in a while too.

yep still do but what has changed the most is the fact that we dont relaly use landlines or pay phones anymore. Everything is done with mobile phones.

Our landline at home very rarely goes off and we only use it if theres a service charge on calling business/services or if we really need to call someone as our home phone signal is crap. I use it to call my parents, Denz' Mum calls us on it too and we've used it as emergency phone for calling friend's family to pick them up or something.

I also use the work phone even though we have work mobiles. Out and about Denz and I will call eachother if texts go unnoticed. Doenst work if your phone is on silent though ^^;

I like talking on the phone if it's someone I know. It can be so reassuring to hear a friend or family member's voice! It's like an audible reminder that they really are still there. Anybody can pick up a cell phone and text in place of someone, but to actually hear them is frankly nicer. That's just my opinion.

I prefer to talk on the phone to texting, but then again I'm almost 31 so I'm very used to just talking on the phone. I remember not even having a cell phone, and my first was a Nokia and I played Snake on it. That's it. I like being able to talk to someone, it's faster than trying to text out an entire conversation. When I'm on here though, I am on the computer. I can type faster that way, but come on---like, phones. They are for talking. Man....do it. Hearing your friends voices are better.

I talk on my phone a lot. (Some would say too much!) While I email up a storm, I rarely text. My phone is fairly large, but due to my weak eyesight, texting is difficult for me. While I can send them okay (If you don't mine spelling errors) I have real trouble reading texts sent to me.  I have to use a magnifying glass, which I WILL NOT do in public.
