Crushed or Cubed ice?

This is just something that I've been noticing. Whenever we have company over some want "crushed" ice specifically. Do they enjoy every little crunch of ice with their drink? Others want it cubed; Just to make it cold, and big so that they don't get an abundance of ice? Some don't want any.

 

Personally I like crushed ice. But to me, ice is ice. I won't yell at the person "This isn't crushed!"

I prefer cubed ice, myself. I like to drink my drinks without having any weird crunchy stuff intermixed within it. Better yet, I'll take zero ice at all - that way whatever I'm drinking won't get watered down as the ice begins to melt. :-X

Well if I have to choose I'd rather cubed ice really. However I don't think I'll freak at all if it isn't, it doesn't really matter.

If I could choose totally I'd just pick no ice though, melted ice makes a watery drink and then it tastes terrible 99% of the time .

I prefer crushed over cubed, because the added surface area actually cools the drink faster.

 

But really, the best option overall is a chilled drink with no ice.

Eh, either is fine really, cubed is nice and uniform but crushed is fun to chew though. I suppose I'd pick crushed if I had to choose one though.

So, a weird answer to go along with it. Cubed, because my dog like ice cubes as a treat. He sits and chews ice cube happily, but when presented with crushed ice he tries to roll in it and makes a big mess.

Cubed any day, unless I'm having a snowcone. Then I prefer crushed. I just like the feeling of being able to bite on ice, I don't know why.

Cubed or no ice, really. Most of the time, I prefer my beverages without ice altogether, but I can tolerate cubed ice. I don't like the mix of ice water with whatever I am drinking, though(an exception being water, but I prefer to drink bottled than from a glass; water in a glass disturbs me).

I actually do not like ice in my drinks at all.  Even when going through the drive-thru, I always ask for no ice.  I don't like chunks of stuff in my drinks and eating establishments tend to fill the glass with ice and then only give you half-a-glass' worth of the actual drink.

 

Plus, like Zoop mentioned, I don't like my drinks getting watered down.

Sure ice keeps your drink nice and chilly.

 

But it takes so much room in the cup up. 

When my mom makes dinner, the cup is filled to the top with ice and has a tiny amount of soda in it.

Then when i drink it, the ice thinks its okay to have an avalanche on my face.

I agree with you 100%.

 

I pour a glass of soda with ice, sit down and finally take a sip. Then i notice its been sitting there for well over 30 minutes and is completely watered down and tastes downright disgusting. Someone really needs to invent a self cooling cup.

Even though this really doesn't go with this topic. My former-friend's teeth are destroyed because all he used to do was chew on ice.

 

I never liked chewing on ice from the beginning, ever since i cracked my tooth from a 2 year old piece of Licorice. That was rather embarrassing and extremely painful.

Well I guess I would go with crushed simply because I like to chew the ice and the smaller chunks are more convenient in this case. Cubes are okay too though; the larger size isn't such a big deal.

 

Most of the time I won't add ice to my drinks simply because the drink is already cold in many cases so the ice only takes up space and then waters down the drink as the ice melts. I'm not too bothered by drinks at room temperature either.

Cubed all the way. I have ice in my drink so it remains cool, not to swallow a whole load of icy bits as while I'm drinking. Also for some reason I find it rather entertaining to suck on the ice cubes when I've finished.

 

Oh and it looks cooler with cubed ice.

I prefer cubed ice because crushed ice just seems too slushy for my taste, I will take it if I have to, but I think cubed ice is better because you're less likely to swallow it, swallowing ice is just a pet peeve of mine.

I prefer no ice. If you have half a cup of ice, that's a half your cup not full of whatever you're drinking. Also, I'm a slow drinker, so the ice often melts and waters down my drink.

If I want ice water, cubes, since they're easier to drink around than little bits of crushed ice.

I prefer crushed ice. It's rare to find some here in local restaurants, since the most common is ice cubes. Crushed ice is perfection for sodas, tastes so much better. <3

Meh,they're both ok,i don't put ice cubes in my drink but i prefer crushed ice.One reason is that you have a better chance of choking on cubed ice.Thats just me though.

I prefer cubed ice, as I don't like chunks of ice stuck in my straw or to choke half to death on one. I'm also a fast drinker, so I don't have to worry about the cubed ice melting to small chunks.
