Why Did You Choose Your Avatar for Non-Pony Identity Day?

Like last year I went with a vigilante from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise last time it was Nightwatcher who was the alter ego of Raphael and this time it is Casey Jones. In the original comics Casey Jones was supposed to be a parody of the over the top vigilante characters that were popular back then and still are like The Punisher for example or even some of the less extreme ones like Batman. Like in the comics in the 80's/90's series was some random nutjob who after watching way too much TV and action movies put on a hockey mask and starting doling out brutal vigilante justice to even the most minor lawbreakers.

 

When he found a "lawbreaker" he would often dole out one liners as he was bringing the pain which were parodies of classic movie lines like "come on punk, make my night" which was a parody to Clint Eastwoods famous movie line "come on, make my day." His brutal methods often put him at odds with the turtles but there were a few times where they teamed up to face a common enemy.

 

In the 2003 cartoon Casey Jones was still a vigilante but was recast with a tragic backstory with him becoming a vigilante because of his parents murder at the hands of the Purple Dragon gang. Like the comics and classic cartoon version Casey Jones went a bit too far though not as far as the other versions which put him in conflict with Raphael who eventually helped him realize he was going too far and they became very close friends and allies.In the 2012 cartoon Casey Jones is aged down to a young slightly cocky teen who doles out a bit of street justice on the side and is apparently competing with Donatello for April O Neil's affections. This version is honestly my least favorite but is passable I guess.

 

I can related strongly to Casey Jones angry, bitter side as well as his desire to do the right thing even if he did go way too far at times (how far depends on the version) and I find his comic and classic cartoon portrayals to be both badass and hilarious. His catchphrase is "goongala" and he uses hockey sticks, baseball bats and golf clubs for weapons. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is easily one of my favorite franchises of all time and there is a rather distinct lack of TMNT avatars on here.

Before I became a Brony, the animated t.v. show I was watching all the time was Phineas and Ferb. Pictured are the titular (step-)brothers (Phineas Flynn is the red-haired one on your left; Ferb Flecther is the green-haired one on your right) with Phineas' older sister and Ferb's older step-sister Candace Flynn being the teen girl in the middle.

 

This show is actually one of Disney Channel's good shows (in my opinion). Though Candace tries to bust her brothers almost every day of summer vacation to their mother for building such impossible things (building rollercoasters, becoming one-hit wonders, create an animal translator, invent a completely adjustable biosphere, and arrange a giant, dangerous-yet-amazing fireworks finale for their friend's birthday), she truly cares for them and her brothers never see her as a spoilsport.

 

As much as I have to endure Busting Candace, there are episodes where she does absolutely no busting and will give the boys a hand. Episodes like those leap to the top of the Likely to Watch Again list.

Cats are great. They don't talk about useless things, or do them. Nothing is cuter. They are something that doesn't exist in my world. They have pets over there as well but...it doesn't quite compare.

Moony is an alternate name for Lupin from the Harry Potter series. I chose this display name a while back not entirely because of this fact, but also because - well, two other reasons:
 
First, I had changed my name to Moon Moon as a joke, and a few people called me Moony for short which sounded nice.
