Whenever people put apostrophes in plural nouns.

Drives me crazy.

It is actually correct to use apostrophes in plural nouns ;)

"Those ponies' home was destroyed."

"All our computers' CPU sockets are damaged."

...Or are you possibly referring to those who put it in the wrong spot? As in:

"Those pony's home was destroyed."

"All our computer's CPU sockets are damaged."

Putting it in the wrong spot *twitch*

Also, this one person who spelled "Macs" as "Mac's".

Shoosh.

The constant misuse of "then" and "than" by everyone and their mother is my major pet peeve when it comes to grammar.  It's an understandable mistake but it gets under my skin all the same.

The runner-up would have to be spelling "definitely" as "defiantly", which is astoundingly common.  Like, not only have you spelled the intended word incorrectly, the word you did spell has a mutually exclusive meaning to the word you wanted.

It would seem I'm one of many bothered by it, in fact:  http://www.d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y.com/

Also the American spelling of 'colour' and 'favourite' as 'color' and 'favorite.' And the American spelling of the '-ise' suffix as '-ize.' (E.g, 'capitalise' as 'capitalize').

Those aren't errors, they're different ways of spelling certain words. I could rant about how annoying it is when people put extra "u"s in their words like 'colour' when it could just be 'color', but those spellings are both widely used.

Then don't go to the Roblox Forums. They only care about what they are saying rather than punctuation and stuff.

I just visited that site out of curiosity and ...wow, people there do not know how to use grammar or anything.

Yea. I post there sometimes and those people are a bit harder to talk to and a lot of the people there are immature nine year olds. Let's stay on the topic of grammar and spelling errors though.

Whoops, I forgot the thread was about errors. I was thinking of general pet peeves when thinking of spelling/grammar.

Wow... I ticked almost every box. I like to be grammatically correct as often as I can. I used to get "its" and "it's" mixed up an awful lot, though, so I won't rant about minor mistakes like that. I can see how it would be easy to get "there", "their", and "they're" mixed up, as well as "you're" and "your", therefore I won't complain about any mistakes like that either. But it does get on my nerves a little, seeing how common these mistakes are. But I can never seem to stand "would of"...  :adorkable:

Pretty much all grammatical errors make me somewhat annoyed (their/your in particular), but when people say 'would of', I don't know, but I want to jump into my computer and punch them in the face.

I hate every last one of these errors, but 'would of' takes the cake. It just shows that you have absolutely no idea what's actually being said when people say 'would've'. This one pisses me off even more than the standard 'your'/'you're' mix up because saying 'would of' just doesn't make sense in any way. If you know you're going to fuck it up using shorthand, just say 'would have' and your problems are solved. Honestly.

I hate when people misspell 'saxophone'. Like where do they even get 'saxaphone' from? I actually can not claim this with 100% certainty, but I'd think that the word originates from the term 'aerophone' which the saxophone is. So that would make it "Sax" (last name of inventor) + "ophone".

I should have learned the differences between their, they're, and there back when I was in second grade. To this day I still don't get it.

Their= Hammy is their hamster (belongs to a multitude of people)

They're= They're going to the store (they are)

Most people spell things the way they say it. Like my Chorus teacher spells my name (Kyla) with a 'h' instead of ending it with the 'a' (Kylah)

The "your" / "you're" thing. That irks me, bad, for some reason.

Your= Your car, your bike, your cat (belongs to you)

You're= You're going to the store. You're going to clean today (you are)

Nothing really bothers me to be honest in regards to spelling and grammar. If people get their messages across, then that's good enough for me. Besides, I like quirks in spelling and grammar.

Correct any of my grammar and spelling errors without invite and I will break into your house with a teaspoon and steal your asterisk key. I will then run over said asterisk key with a bus. Numerous times! Until nothing remains of it! Save for a collection of tiny little shards of plastic that could choke an ant!

i don't really care about grammar/spelling that much but "would of" instead of "would have" does bug me

Using "til" or "till" in place of "until."

"Till" is actually a word. It's the informal version of "until." So it's not wrong to say "till." "Til" is incorrect tho.

I don’t like internet abbreviations used all the time, although that isn’t literally and error. I’m not a fan of the misuse of ‘there,’ ‘their’ and ‘they’re,’ or ‘to,’ ‘too’ and ‘two.’ It’s not a major issue, but I like to see the right words used properly in their intended context.
