As a Human would you date a pony?

Honestly, I dont understand this "I would date a pony, but only if I was a pony" business.

 

I can see not wanting one at all, but why would you have to be a pony to be with them? If I loved them, thats all that matters. Also i would love to date Twilight Sparkle!

The reason behind the whole "I would only date a pony if I were one" is because most sane people find the idea of dating an animal if they aren't one weird.

There is a difference between those two. The problem is that there isn't enough differences. 

They would still be a different species then you and therefor it would be no different from dating a dog.

 They have the same level of intelligence as humans. They have houses, and trains. They eat at tables, talk, throw parties, have jobs and families. They can use magic, read books. They feel love, hate, anger, pain, sorrow, joy, fear, friendship...They're basically humans in a different (and in my opinion, better looking) package. It is not the same as dating a dog or a cat. A dog or a cat can't consent, they aren't quite as developed in us in all the same ways. They are nothing like the ponies from the show.

 

 If I asked a pony out somehow, and they told me that dating me would be the same as dating...say a monkey. I'd be really offended. I'm not a monkey, thank you very much.

I'm not saying they can't feel feelings at all, I'm saying they aren't as developed as us in a lot of ways. I know a lot of animals can still obviously experience emotions and have thoughts, doesn't make them the same level as us.

 

 If I found a chimp, that was just as intelligent as humans and could talk, and think and feel on the same level as us? I probably wouldn't, but I wouldn't have any problem with someone else doing it.

 

 If there isn't much of a difference between dating a pony and a chimp...Then there isn't that much of a difference between dating another human, and dating a chimp.

Absolutely. I would date almost any non human race of any fantasy or sci-fi franchise. As long as there was some emotional chemistry there, I don't see what would be wrong with it. I mean, I would date any human regardless of ethnicity, this is just the logical extension of that.

Like I said before, it is pretty weird, but I can see having a romantic non-sexual relationship.  But with them not being humanoid, it seems just...wrong to do anything more than that. 

 

"Dating" or marrying one of them would be mostly fine, having sex with them could easily be argued to be borderline bestiality.  Yes, you've all made it clear they aren't animals, but they are obviously extremely similar-looking to animals.  If you're ok with bestiality then whatever, personally I'm not really.

 

And finally, to all the people who are saying "If I were a pony", that argument doesn't make any sense.  Vital Spark hit the nail on the head:  Just because you're changed into a pony doesn't mean you won't still think like a human.  You'd have to be born a pony for that to make sense, and obviously you weren't.

It's because, regardless of whether or not you find the ponies attractive, It's just weird to have a romantic relationship outside your own species.  That's the main reason I've never been able to get behind Spikes crush on Rarity.  Such a relationship could never work because they can't possibly have a foal together.  The same thing holds true for a relationship between a human and a pony.  It doesn't matter if I bacame a pony or if the pony turns into a human.  As long as we aren't the same race, such a relationship could never work.

But that's what makes it awesome. There are billions of humans dating humans. (yawn) To be a human dating an alien would be exciting. Sure most relationships don't work and this one might be less likely to work but it's still not impossible. And I'm not interested in reproducing.

I feel the need to forward my explanation from the "Do you find ponies sexy" thread to this topic...

 

 

Explanation:

 

I am not attracted to them sexually because of their appearance, I am attracted to them sexually because of their personalities.

 

Simply put: If it can talk like me, think like me, have the same interests as me, then there is no reason why you can't be in a relationship with it.

 

Saying you can't be attracted to it or be with it just because it's a kind of horse is basically racism to me. Now, if it was just like the horses that we have in our world today, then no, because it is considered beastiality. An animal has a lower IQ than we do, it does not have the intelligence to bond with us on that kind of level. You could say "well a pony is a type of animal", to some degree yes, but so are humans. But the title of an animal and IQ levels are what differentiates us all on this topic.

 

However, because it is a kind of horse, and it has similar aspects to that of a human female, is just icing on the cake. Does this help with being more attracted to it? Absolutely. But it isn't the main reason why I would be as stated above.

 

Let's use Twilight Sparkle as an example. She is very intelligent, she has a kind personality, she loves to learn and explore new things, and she strives to help someone in need however she can. If you're a person that likes these traits in a woman, how can you not be attracted to her? Is it because she is a kind of horse and not a human? If that's the only barrier between you and her when the feelings of each other are mutual, then that is a lame reason. Is it because you fear that your human society will think lowly of you for being with a horse and not another human with the same traits? Well, you shouldn't care what anyone else thinks. If it makes you happy to be with her, then do whatever it takes to make yourself happy.

Being the kind that's attracted to personality more than to looks, I cannot guarantee that I wouldn't, given the right circumstances.

As some said, human and ponies are different only in form and pretty much identical in personality. I am not sexually attracted to ponies, but some do have their charm (the kind of charm that makes you think "woah, she's beautiful" rather than "Ay bro I'd totally *censured* her all night")

 

Again, though, the lack of sexual drive might be a major issue, not to mention the act itself would probably be physically.... unconvenient. As someone who values Sex greatly in a relationship, that might end up not ending well.

Sex is a different issue for me, though. Not because of trans species issues, but because:

 

A: I'd rather not deal with Equestria's completely ambiguous age rulings. For instance, cutie marks might be enough to make you an adult... or they might not. age might matter, except we don't know how old they actually are, rate of growth(ponies seem to go from foals to mare/stallions instantly) what the age of consent is, if there is even one, etc.

 

B: Absolutely no one has any idea about how the genital mish-mash would even work. I mean, assuming they even have them in the first place, it could be biologically human, horse, alien, or... Alien.

I think the only way to date them is if they were in anthro form

or if you were your oc pony. 

 

I would feel very awkward and embarassed if i was dating the pony, despite

they are intelligent and do human things. It would be just too much pressure, so making friends

and giving them hugs and cuddles probably would be the good option.
