Holding in a sneeze and vomiting violently can both be fatal if it is intense enough to rupture a blood vessel.

Most people have a tendency to view things above and tilted at an angle, and rarely from above or straight ahead.

Reading from a computer screen instead of a book or even a Kindle is a bit more tiring because of how the light reflects to you when you read it.

Your most vivid memories tend to be the ones that are the most incorrect.

That's a perception, not a fact.

New York State was ruled up until the mid-19th century as essentially a defacto feudal state under the patroons, a remnant of aristocratic Dutch rule that presided in the region since the Dutch colonized the region and established New Amsterdam.

The fall of the patroonships occurred when the tenant farmers of the massive estates basically rebelled and refused to pay their rent and formed political opposition in local government to the patroon families.

Birds can't taste spicy food. The natural defenses of peppers are useless against them (and of limited usefulness against creatures that sometimes enjoy spiciness)!

The human body has some reflexes that, in a way, allow the spinal cord to briefly control a limb in lieu of the brain. It takes slightly longer for a message to reach the brain than it does for a message to reach the spinal cord; in case of an extreme emergency, time is of the essence, so basically your central nervous system buys you a tiny bit of time by stopping the message at your spine rather than your brain.

For example, if you reach out and touch a hot pan on a stove, once the pain signal has traveled up the nerves from your hand to your spine, your central nervous system automatically causes you to recoil.

This is why your doctor tests your reflexes by tapping you on the knee with a little mallet thingy--if something about the reflex is abnormal, that could be a sign of damage to the central nervous system.

Clenching your fists pumps blood in your body and simulates your brain, making you far more likely to remember things you might've forgotten.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

Anime specifically refers to Japanese commercial animation. Anime is different from conventional animation due to the fact that Japanese creators were never bound by the 20th-century convention that animation was something solely for children. Anime is a broad medium that ranges from the purely innocent to the pornographic. Some of it fetishizes young girls. In Japan the manga, anime, video game, television and media industries are all interrelated. Many popular manga characters find their way into video games and anime DVDs.

Did you know that Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson is a licensed commercial airline pilot?

And here's another bonus fact for you: Bruce also flew a Fokker Tri-plane in a dog fight reenactment over the Sonisphere metal festival on the 100th anniversary of the day the first world War started.

Metal Hammer magazine would rate the event an 11/10.

Polar bears have black skin and transparent fur instead of white.

Owls can't digest fur and bones so they cough them back up in a bundle called a pellet.

I actually knew about polar bears. Years ago at the Philadelphia zoo, the polar bears looked all green. A zoo employee told us that it was because algae grew in their hollow hair. It didn't hurt them, but it looked icky! I heard about the owl thing too. I read somewhere that it you find a pellet (EW!) you can take it apart and glue the bones back together!

Now for my random fact. It's another nasty animal tidbit.

Rats can not vomit. It's why rat poison works.

YUCK!
