Would you report someone for Plagiarism?

No... I would hide their posts.

In all seriousness, yes; I would act on someone for plagiarism. Not only is it just a scummy thing to do, but it can also spread and cause confusion, due to the fact that nobody knows who the author is. :pout: Let's just say that we have guidelines strictly prohibiting plagiarism for a reason.

First I'd tell them that what they are doing is wrong, sort of like a warning. Then, if they wouldn't take the plagiarized content down after that, I'd report them.

Academic integrity is extremely important. I see it all the time when I'm picking up cert based course. There are two schools of though here, and it depends highly on the course. First off, at the University level they ultilize tools to detect Essay and Dissertation plagerism. Most of the issues I see are not really copying something verbatim, but actually slight modification of things found on sites like Chegg. I have reported someone previously yes. I also have ignored it. I saw a student plagerize themselves between two different course once that happened to share a discussion theme one week. I ignored that one.

The second school of thought is with science based courses. A lot of undergraduate courses rely on online textbooks with skill based chapters. If I was taking a course on Discrete Math, my homework answers would easily be found online. However, if you use these resources to shortcut the assignment without putting in the effort, prepare to get a wake up call when tested on the material. I have seen plagerism in CS courses too, and that is a slightly more grey area. Part of me wants to say nothing and just let them crash and burn. It's a grey area for some because IRL, you do search for solutions .... ALL THE TIME. In an academic setting, you need to know how to accomplish a specific task on your own though.

Stealing someone else’s hard work is wrong and in the end is self-defeating. Regardless of what occupation you want to get into, integrity is very important. If your boss gives you a report to do, there is no one you can copy from. You have to do the work yourself and if you can’t then you may get fired.

Plagiarism is a bad thing of course, but I wouldn't report it. The human version of justice is usually far worse than the infraction calls for. But if someone plagiarizes someone else's work, they have no integrity and thus defeat the entire purpose of what they are doing to begin with. If you steal someone's art, literature or even research, you'd miss the whole point of the creative and intellectual process itself, which is far more valuable than the finished product. So plagiarism is, in a way, it's own punishment, even if the one doing doesn't realize it until long after the fact.

while i don't support it,i doubt i would go report it,as i am not a very social person and that would require unnecesary interactions.i would report it if was online and i just had to chat instead of talk(chat gives you plenty of time to think and form words just right so i have no problem there)

If i caught it yes.

My buddy plagiarized in a literature class years ago. Luckily for him he had the coolest professor on the planet and instead of spreading that shit like wildfire, he gave him a W in the class. We still give him shit today for it.

And that’s the bottom line, ‘cause Stone Cold said so!

If an extremely heavy amount of content has been plagiarized, maybe. I'd probably give them a warning a first though.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

I would report it to the authority and let them handle it in a thorough manner.

It fully depends on context and what you consider plagiarism if someone is stealing yours or another persons content in direct wording or even just barely modified i would most definitely. If they used a source and wrote in in there own words possibly adding information i would say its fine.

If I was the one they plagiarized, I'd definitely do it. I'd also report someone if I noticed they plagiarized because it's not fair that everyone else worked hard to be creative while that person just copied someone else's work.

If it's something I worked on then yes, absolutely.

This actually happened to me last month on a site where I host mock game shows. Someone copied my entire prize list on one of their games and the mods stepped in after I reported it.

If it's my work, yes. If I dislike the person in question, yes. If it harms the original creator and I know it does, yes. In all other cases, I wouldn't. In a school scenario I almost certainly wouldn't bother to report it. God knows I've handed in my fair share of copy-pasted essays in my day.

I did anonymously report someone who I suspected of plaigarizing a large part of the bachelor's dissertation. Never heard anything about it mind you so maybe it was wrongly founded.

In an academic setting like that if plagiarism goes unnoticed until its too late it can have consequences for everybody in the class (i.e. a full scale investigation by academic services). I didn't want to deal with that.
