Last time I came here, I told you the story of how I got into the brony fandom itself. This time, I'm going to approach this a little bit differently... :toldya: This time, I'll be a approaching it from the angle of how this Forums has affected my life, not necessarily what got me into it itself. Wanna-B probably recognizes this story, but I think you folks should see it as well~! :fluttershy:

I'm sure you know how I'm doing online school, right? Well, believe it or not, this isn't even the first year I've been doing it. No; not at all. I've been homeschooled ever since 3rd grade. With that said, I never really had much of a social life. :pout: I started homeschool when I was about 8 or 9; I'm almost 16 now. That's just a little bit of a perspective of how long I've been this way.

Fast forward a couple of years, specifically into my adolescent years, and I entered my edgy phase. I'm sure you remember the topic I posted on what puberty was like for you, right? You probably know the explicit details, then; I was wearing black clothing, I was listening to edgy music, yadda yadda yadda, you get the idea. During this phase, I was very socially averse, not only due to some weird teenage superiority complex... but it probably also had a bit to do with deep-rooted insecurity. :adorkable: I'm sure I wanted some friends, but my hormones and insecurities wouldn't allow for that. :rarity: Me still being homeschooled certainly didn't help out at all.

Fast forward a while into the future, and I started making social media accounts. YouTube, Reddit, you name it. While I was always content with the content that was posted... I felt pretty isolated from the communities. Sure, there were discussions had, and a few popular posts I made... but I can't name a single member of those communities.  Like I said; I felt pretty distant from everyone. The closest Forum I can think of where I could have met some friends was Toho Kingdom, and even then, we were more interested in discussions and the like, not necessarily any real interaction. This isn't a bad thing, but this wasn't scratching the itch that I was feeling. :)

Now we're entering more recent territory; about February of this year. By this time, my edgy phase had ended, and I decided to delete a lot of my social media accounts. Not only that, but I was starting to get into MLP. During this time, I was scouting out a few brony related websites, and as you know, I eventually stumbled into this one. I ran across a few others as well, and while those were all well and good, none of them really stuck out as something that I wanted to be deeply involved in. :ooh: With that said, this one stuck out in particular to me, due to how active it was.

Needless to say, I decided to create an account here, and decided to go to the Welcoming Plaza, as any new member was supposed to. I won't lie; I was trying to act as, how I say, "professional" as possible. I didn't exactly know what to expect from everyone; as far as I knew, it was just going to be yet another community where I don't remember anyone's account name, I don't forge any significant connections, or anything like that. Basically, I was acting "professional," to try to avoid coming across as immature or anything like that.

What I got in return took me aback, though. Everyone welcomed me with open arms. Quite honestly, I was astonished; I had never been treated so well on any other website, ever! If you go back to my welcoming thread, than you can probably see me loosening up as the thread goes by; that's not just a coincidence, my friends! :squee: I was acting as neutral as possible at the start, just to be sure I didn't come across as some kid... but I finally felt like I could cut loose a little bit, thanks to you guys and gals~!

... And here we are now. :rarity: So why exactly did I post all of this? I just wanted to show how much you  have done for me; Only about 2 months ago, the idea of making a circle of friends who shared a common interest was a pipe dream... Yup! It's my 2 month anniversary~! ;) With all of this out o the way, I believe thanks are in order!

... Man, this list has only gotten bigger~! Not that I'm complaining; it only means more lovely folks to spend time with! :yay: With that said...

Have a great day, everyone! You all deserve it! :rarity:

Wow @Recherche thank you! :fluttershy: I feel the same way about you and this community. Before I become a part of this, I was kind of a cold person. My social life kind of made me into a gray rock. This has been a place for me to thaw, if you will, and I feel like many of these people are true friends. Anyway I don’t want to turn this on myself. :adorkable: Thanks @Recherche I really appreciate this and you. You’ve been a great friend to me.
